Press Release:
February 7, 2010

Each year, the Rancho Bernardo Hall of Fame honors outstanding volunteer leaders who have made significant contributions to Rancho Bernardo. This year, the Rancho Bernardo Hall of Fame has selected Gary Carlson and Marty Judge.

Gary Carlson has been the director of the Rancho Bernardo Neighborhood Watch program since 2005. As director, Gary developed a new structure of committee chairs and active board meetings; re-enforced the organization with a new generation of leaders; developed programs from recognition, signage and training of recruits. Prior to becoming the director of Neighoborhood Watch, Gary was the district coordinator of the Swim and Tennis District for 12 years.
Gary has also served as the Pathway to Pride Chair 2007-2009. During that time, Gary recruited the highest number of new donors in 15 years. Gary also as the Chair of the Disaster Preparedness Task Force for RB United for one year. As Chair, he coordinated a formal report assessing RB readiness for disasters.

Marty Judge served on multiple committees of the Spirit of the 4th organization, heading the grant writing efforts 2001-2005; heading the editing and publishing of the event magazine, and chaired the VIP reception 2007-2009. Marty also served as secretary and grant writer for the RB Veterans Memorial Association 2004-2007. As a member of the Rotary club, Marty has compiled and distributed their weekly newsletter 2004 to 2009.

Candidates for the Rancho Bernardo Hall of Fame were nominated by the community at large in late 2009. The selection committee was made up of Hall of Fame members and leaders of other community organizations.

The new members will be honored at a luncheon to be held Saturday, March 27, 2010, 11:30 am, at the Bernardo Heights Country Club. All community members are welcome. Those interested should call Myrna Reese at 858-487-2515 to make reservations and select an entree - sliced marinated steak or baked tilapia. Cost per person to attend the event is $20. Checks can be made to the Rancho Bernardo Hall of Fame and mailed to Mryna Reese at 11358 Turtleback Lane, San Diego, CA 92127. Seating is limited, so early reservations are recommended.
